Hello, everyone! Today I’m gonna show you how to use Autel MaxiIM IM508 scanner to add a new key for BMW X3 via OBD. This tutorial of new smart remote key programming is workable for BMW X1, X3, 520d, 520i, CAS4/4+, which can also to be done on Autel MaxiIM IM608.
Prepare a BMW working key and a new key, connect Autel IM508 with OBD2 port of BMW, let’s go to start:
IMMO >> Accept terms >> BMW >> Smart selection
Will automatically scan the immobilizer system, engine system, transmission system!

There are some faults in DME engine system and EGS transmission system. Press “report” to check the details, press blue arrow on right side to clear codes.
Clear code operation >> Clear code >> OK, done!
Return back to clear EGS transmission system fault code, repeat same operations as before.
Clear code operation >> Clear code >> OK, all cleared!
OBD learning >> OK >> OBD Read SK >> Read note, press “OK” to go on >> OK

Yes >> Put the working key close to the START coil, then press “OK”>> OK, record the password.
